The System Bellicusology:
The word Bellicusology comes from the Latin stem “bellicus: martial, military, war-like.” And the greek word “ology: for the study of a branch of knowledge.” It is designed to evolved and adapt itself to counter the progression of criminal tactics.
What it is?
Have you ever noticed how certain everyday actions become natural and are done without even thinking about them? Movements such as removing pocketed keys when approaching a door, tying shoe laces, locking your house door, shutting a refrigerator door, or even accidentally turning the lights out when leaving a room when someone is still in it. All of these actions are subconsciously triggered by repetitious muscle memory. This principle is also true for interpersonal physical conflict. The Bellicusology system is designed to impart natural response, yielding fast, effective and efficient techniques.
Why Was Bellicusology Formed?
When we constantly hear about how criminals being better armed than the police, not caring who gets in their way, and seizing criminal opportunities, it calls for a change in response! Not only must this changed the way law enforcement & security deal with criminals, but also how everyday people defend themselves against criminals. Therefore; Though the rules of engagement may sound the same, real world skills and tactics have by necessity have changed tremendously. Bellicusology is the response to the needed changes in the rules of engagement.
How does it work?
1. Conditioned Response: Humans respond to conflict in one of two ways, fighting or by fleeing. It is my belief that what determines one to stay and fight, or to flee, is a choice made by the subconscious based on its conditioning. Unlike other scientific empirical studies, studying the subconscious is not as easily measurable; however difficult it may seem, Pavlov’s experiments (salivary response by association) have proven that conditioning the subconscious is achievable. With proper teaching techniques humans don’t need thousands of muscle repetition drills in order to learn and execute something in real time. Therefore, if one successfully disciplines the subconscious, the subconscious mind will direct the body (involuntarily) to defend itself without wasting time trying to analyze an attack, it will simply function. In short, Bellicusology trains your body and mind to survive to respond effectively to any situation.
2. Training Approach: The techniques are simple and easy to understand complimenting what the body does naturally. It's more than technology of the techniques, it's the dynamic approach in the way we train that enable successful behavior.
3. Opponent Resistence: Most systems practice techniques against what we call a non-responsive opponent. If you notice when you watch a demonstration of a technique the opponent is very cooperative and stands there while the demonstrator performs their 17 move combo on them, when in reality this would never happen! Why? Becuase people fight back. The downside of this approach is that a student will begin to feel conscious of their body because of their ability to perform a sequence of techniques, this doesn't mean that they know how to fight. In reality they only understand there bodies mechanics, and not the dynamics of tactical implementation. Shockwave Defense is an approach that deals with technique failure options, 3-5 second threat elimination, and peak performance in the face of chaos without having to train for several years, or having to be a black belt.
